Leadership Development

• Initiate a comprehensive multi-tiered youth leadership program in Alabama that will include conducting local and area programs as well as intensive programs at the Center.

• Conduct programs to empower youth to impact natural resource and environmental
decisions in Alabama.

• Train volunteers to more effectively work with youth and organizations that deal with youth and environmental issues.

• Conduct programs to make environmental education and natural resource organizations
more effective.

• Conduct natural resource public policy education programs.

• Convene meetings of environmental education and natural resources organizations to brainstorm strategies and policies for improving Alabama's natural resource and environment.

Environmental Education

• Establish a standing advisory team composed of representatives of partnering
environmental educational organizations, natural resource agencies, and university faculty to help plan, guide, implement, and evaluate environmental education curricula and programs.

• Develop comprehensive environmental education curricula that are compatible with the State Department of Education's learning objectives.

• Create environmental education and natural resource programs for youth and adults to include camps, seminars, workshops, demonstrations, field trips, and other appropriate methods.

• Become a center for teacher education in the areas of natural resources and environment.

• Develop mechanisms to meaningfully involve faculty from the State's colleges, universities, and community colleges in Center programs.

• Develop mechanisms to meaningfully involve volunteers and college students in the Center's programs and operations.
