The Alabama 4-H Club Foundation, Inc. was formed in July 1956 as a permanent, altruistic, non-profit corporation for the purpose of “augmenting and enhancing the educational, leadership, and citizenship training of young people in Alabama.” Funds, gifts, or other resources it has received have been used according to the articles of incorporation, to “meet the needs and advance the interest of 4-H club work throughout Alabama.” The Board envisioned from the beginning a youth development program, where young people from throughout the state could gain hands-on experience and knowledge.
